The primary objective of the Department of Food and Civil Supplies is to ensure food security for the targeted beneficiaries through timely and efficient transportation and distribution of essential commodities. This involves supervision and monitoring of stock distribution and price levels of Food grains.

The focus is on distribution of food grains to Priority House Hold (PHH) families and covering poor households under Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), with the involvement of Fair Price Shop(s) and Village Councils under the Public Distribution System (PDS).

Objective: –

  1. To implement the National Food Security Act, 2013, in the State.
  2. To Strengthen the Targeted Public Distribution Systems.
  3. Improvement in Public Service System.

The Department is in a transition period from conventional method to IT based PDS (Public Distribution System) by implementing End To End Computerization to achieve the objective, whereby the unstinting and concerted effort by the team of officers and staffs in the department need to be mentioned, added with the co-operation extended by the Village Councils and Fair Price Shop(s) in the state. It is hoped that this report will be utilised as a resource by policy makers and stakeholders.
