Since its inception, the Department of Food and Civil Supplies has been the nodal agency for catering of Foodgrains and other essential commodities to the poor and needy at subsidized and affordable rates. Over the years the Departmental Officers and Staffs have been working with full dedication and sincerity in keeping with the prime vision for successful implementation of various schemes and policies of the GoI in spite of encountering hurdles and technical problems from time to time. The said policies are also being reviewed from time to time keeping in tune with the various changes that take place in demographic development. With broader policies of the Government to give wider and sustainable coverage to poor and needy at large the Department is fully equipped to take up such challenges so as to enable the eligible beneficiaries of the state in getting its due share without compromising the quality and quantity of subsidized commodities.

After implementation of National Food Security Act’2013 (NFSA), throughout the state, w.e.f. August’2016 (initially started with two districts namely Kohima &  Dimapur from July’2016) is now beginning to show results by receiving appreciations and gratitude from the beneficiaries in the State.

For full implementation of End-toEnd Computerization of PDS Operations in the state on the 16th May’2018, Shri. Pramod Kumar Tiwari, Jt.Secy MoF&PD, DoF&PD, GoI, has launched the Online allocation of food-grains up to the FPS level (from manual system to online computerized system) and on the 28th Nov’2018, Shri. D.K.Gupta, Director(PD), MoF&PD, DoF&PD, GoI, launched the Supply Chain Management of Foodgrains till the FPS Level i.e. Stock inventory tracking and Management of foodgrians till the FPS.

Out of 284,934 (AAY & PHH) beneficiaries in the State 1,73,898 has been seeded with Aadhaar (i.e. 61.03%) till date. Therefore, it is my sincere appeal to the NFSA beneficiaries in particular and general public (as awareness) to submitting their Aadhaar (of all the members of the Ration Card) so that no beneficiaries in the state will be deprived of their of entitlement (foodgrains). Please help the department to serve you better.
